Heliskiing (i.e, skiing with drop-off made by helicopter) is, without a doubt, the utmost in freeride skiing. Heliskiing trips are not cheap, but for lovers of powder snow, the experience is unique. The helicopter offers the advantage of being able to access spots with the best snowfall conditions, both for skiing and in terms of safety. On the other hand, the aircraft require good conditions of visibility, and the discipline is highly dependent on weather conditions. A helicopter generally makes several rotations in a day, transporting several different groups of skiiers, the number of which will depend on the aircraft's capacity, of course. Drop-offs and pick-ups are generally made in hover or semi-hover mode. Actual landings are rare. Drop-off trips tend to be very quick and recovery times relatively short. As such, the discipline requires a good level of phyical condition...
