SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING IN ASIA |
China |
| Skiing and snowboarding activities occur in the north-east part of the country, in the Harbin province, where most of the ski resorts are. These resorts aren't usually very well equipped, and the temperatures can be drastically freezing, but skiing in China is a unique cultural experience. One should know that the Yabuli ski resort, 200 km from Harbin, once hosted the Asian Winter Games. |

South Korea |
| South Korea is a great destination for the Asian ski and snowboard fans. The snowfall is ok and the resorts are decently equipped. Several of these resorts are less than an hour away from Seoul. |

India |
| In India, skiing mostly happens in the Manali valley, on the Himalayan foothills where the country's few ski resorts are located. Of course, don't expect to see brand new declutchable chairlifts on the pistes... |

Japan |
Japan is the country that has the most ski resorts in the world. The numbers are impressive: about 600 resorts.... Most of these resorts have, however, fairly small skiing domains.
The ski resorts in Japan resemble the country: they are modern, small and overcrowded. Once could say that skiing in Japan is like taking the metro in Tokyo during rush hour, and that would only be exaggerating a little... Despite efforts to multiply the number of skiing domains, to have lighting systems that allow to ski by night, and the creation of more and more "indoor" skiing centres, the demand is still superior to what's out there.... Nonetheless, the snowfall conditions are good even if the technical quality of the pistes is sub par in respect to European standards. |

Turkey |
| Turkey is a country which has many things to offer both in tourism and for sports. There's plenty in store for ski and snowboard fans: the country's mountainous potential is great, with an average elevation of 1131m and the highest peak at 5165m (the famous Mount Ararat, where Noah's Arch beached). The snowfall conditions are fairly good, and the resorts are decently equipped. These resorts, even if not very numerous, are well spread out throughout the Turkish territory. The most well known resort is Uludag, which is next to the city of Bursa, and fairly close to Istanbul. |
