Its calling for skiing has been revealed at the beginning of the century and, since 1936, it was one of the first resort equipped with a cable-car. today, whether it is for downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoes walks or tourist discoveries, le Mont-Dore invites people to practise all sport, leisure, and entertainment in the warm atmosphere of a village resort. From gliding to walking in the Wide Open Spaces of Auvergne, from the 'cool' downhill skiing to the intense cross country skiing, from the discovery of the heritage to the walks on the volcanoes... days end by a fire side, in front of the famous 'potée'. With the passing tourist seasons, the welcome has become a real tradition. A wide and complete infrastructure of accomodations trades and services has grown, but le Mont-Dore has kept its mountainous and natural welcoming character.

Winter sports resort and summer mountain resort
Super Besse, modern resort, is situated between 1.350 and 1,850 m in altitude, on the South side of the Puy de Sancy, at 7 km above the village of Besse.
In Winter as in Summer, this mountain resort offers a fabulous playground, thanks to a multitude of sport and funny activities.
Here, the mountain is different : "the Alps are gothic, but Auvergne is Romanesque", has written Alexandre Vialatte.
In winter, the slide is gentle and panoramic on a downhill skiing domain with surprising roundness, or wild and contemplative on the Nordic area.
