Val Thorens (French Alps) (Northern Alps) (The 3 valleys) (Vallée de la Tarentaise) (Best french ski resorts)
VAL THORENS
Altitude: 2300m
Slopes: 600 km
THE HIGHER, THE WIDER!
HIGHER. Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe. 2300m high, Val Thorens guarantees an excellent quality snow cover all winter long. With 5 pistes’ summits higher than 3000m, and 99% of the ski area higher than 2000m, the snow is guaranteed for real and that up to May! In Val Thorens, the snow is good, ski is reliable.
WIDER. Val Thorens is part of the 3 Vallées, the biggest linked-up ski area in the world. 600 Km of slopes which connect the resorts of Courchevel, La Tania, Méribel, ST Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens that you can do by ski or thanks to ski lifts. Not by feet or shuttles. Because connections between resorts are done on crests, not in the bottom of the valley where there isn’t any snow…In the 3 Vallées, snow is everywhere, ski is more varied
FASTER. The ski lifts in Val Thorens are one of the most efficient in the world: 1 cable-car with 150 spots, 3 Funitels, 3 cable-cars, 15 chairlifts of which 8 with release-mechanism and only 6 drag lifts. In Val Thorens, you ski from an hour to an hour and a half more a day than in other big ski resorts in the Alps, because lines are shorter and because devices are faster. In Val Thorens, ski last longer.
MORE ACCESSIBLE. Thanks to its altitude and configuration, Val Thorens is really a resort “skis at your feet”. Whatever the accommodation, you don’t have to walk more than 100m to access or come back from the slopes. It’s a privilege, an asset that only few ski resorts can pride themselves to own. We can even have lunch at home without losing any time of ski. In Val Thorens, the snow is in front of the door, ski is closer.
MORE COMFORTABLE. At Val Thorens, the ski lifts are getting more and more comfortable, the slopes are better prepared. But the real comfort is the one from your hotel or apartment, where you meet at 5pm after a good day of ski. And there, Val Thorens offers what’s best: top of the range hotels, 3 or 4* residences, spacious and luxurious chalets, gastronomic restaurants…In Val Thorens, the nights are more pleasant.
MORE VIBRANT. At Val Thorens, the après-ski is animated: toboggan run of 6 km (the longest one in France), more than 50 restaurants, bars and tea rooms, clubs, cinema, the classical or jazz concerts, games rooms, bowling and shops. There is also one of the biggest sports centre in the mountains: tennis, squash, swimming-pool, spa and well-being centre, fitness, children’s Fun Park…In Val Thorens, the evenings are filled, the activities are unlimited.

Les 2 Alpes (French Alps) (Northern Alps) (Best french ski resorts) (french ski resorts)
LES 2 ALPES, A WHITE PARADISE !
This famous Isère destination at the heart of the Oisans, is part of a generation of resorts that were created from scratch. At an altitude of 1600 metres, it was built over high mountain pastures, shared between the villages of Venosc and Mont de Lans.
A dream was to become a reality here during the 1930’s. The development of the plateau, originally carried out by private individuals, with the aim of creating a large winter sports resort, was achieved in 1946. 62 years later, the resort of les 2 Alpes has become « a high altitude town », continually developing, improving and changing for the better.
