SKI RESORT GUIDE
RATING OF THE RESORT :4.5/5

A superb "village" with restricted traffic. The buildings have kept the same 'mountain' style. The Trois-Vallées ski area... in other words ... perfect!
La Cime Caron lorsqu' arrivés au sommet baigné de soleil vous découvrez sous vos skis un tapis de nuages ne laissant échapper que toutes les cimes à perte de vue... Une pure merveille!
Victim of its success, the Val-Tho centre looks like a funnel where all the pistes join up and you really feel the pressure during the 'rush hours'. Not to mention the never-ending queues (even in January) towards the most beautiful peaks.
And I won't even mention the crowds when the low altitude resorts don't have enough snow...everyone heads for Val-Tho!
For 'big' skiers, this resort is too out-of-the-way to really take advantage of the 600 km of ski runs. Head for Courche..; you have to cross Méribel and its never-ending queues...
The ski runs are great and the scenery breathtaking. But the downside is its popularity has meant too many skiers on the most beautiful runs.

From the Cime CARON where you look out over 100 peaks, it's a magic place, it's like you're on top of the world,the beauty of it takes your breath away! The village is nice and easy to visit on foot, with a lot of shops,bars, restaurants and nightlife for those who're ready to step out in the cold.
Non skiers won't get bored in this little village either as the sports centre offers a wide range of possibilities for relaxing, doing sport and combining the two. Val-Threns is very high up at 2300m! it's the highest resort in Europe and around 200 people live there all year round. Hundreds of kms of ski runs for all levels;
Off season, the village is a bit dull, with no shops open, few people in the streets outside school hours...if you want to buy some bread, you have to go down to St-Martin de Belleville (very pretty with lots of flowers). It can get extremely cold at times!
Once you've tried Val-Thorens, you'll want to go back! It's the ideal place for unlimited skiing or quiet runs down the pistes, you can ski all day in the sun, you just need to choose your runs, set off for the 3 Vallées, an unforgettable ride to do again and again!
In conclusion, I LOVE Val-Thorens

Extraordinary panorama thanks to the altitude (2300m)
Part of the 3 valleys domain so one of the most expensive french resort.
