A superb domain, with a glacier. Snow guaranteed. Great pistes (for example La Toura), nice off-piste possibilities. - Disliked:
The architecture, average services standard - Conclusion:
An ugly resort with a superb domain! Is that not unfair?

Montgenevre |
 |
Review written on the 23/05/2011. 4out of 5 - Liked:
It was either really sunny or snowy, the amount of snow when there was none anywhere else. The amount of variation and speed of the lifts and how well the staff spoke English - Disliked:
How cold it was. The ques at the start of the day - Conclusion:
A great resort with plenty of snow and friendly staff.

The weather, the ski area, the ESF ski instructors - Disliked:
Lots of construction work going on at the moment so lots of noise during the day and an avalanche of parking tickets!!! The shopkeepers told us that an agent had been hired just for that. Shameful!! Parking payable weekly. - Conclusion:
A resort where you won't be going much longer if it continues like that.

Review written on the 29/04/2011. 3out of 5 - Liked:
The ski area is nice, the ski school is very good and the shopkeepers very welcoming. - Disliked:
Not enough shuttles, lots of building work going on and the mayor wants to get as much as possible out of teh tourists, none of the parking places are free and the local police give out fines non stop (especially on the day of arrivals)... sickening!!! - Conclusion:
It's a shame that a fine of 35 euros 10 minutes after we arrived naturally spoilt our week

Review written on the 27/04/2011. 2out of 5 - Liked:
The calm, leafy environment. The high-standing of Pracondu apartments. - Disliked:
the end-of-season ski lift prices: even though there was only one piste open, the reduction applied on high season rates was just 5%! - Conclusion:
Beautiful resort but not for every budget, especially when you have a family!

Les 2 Alpes |
 |
Review written on the 18/04/2011. 3out of 5 - Liked:
kindness of all the people - Disliked:
shrieking in the streets all through the night even at the end of the season (April), it's unimaginable to come across such a noise in the mountains - Conclusion:
family resort certificate incompatible with the noisy nightlife!!!

La Plagne |
 |
Review written on the 15/04/2011. 2out of 5 - Liked:
friendly holiday-makers, lovely ski runs - Disliked:
That's why I want to express my feelings, the seasonal workers were very rude (short sentences of frustrated people) at the end of the season. They shouldn't take their feelings out on us. It's a shame, I'm talking about the Plagne village. We got abetter reception at Montalbert last year. - Conclusion:
Lovely resort, but we really don't get enough respect. Never again.

Alpe d'Huez |

Review written on the 11/04/2011. 4out of 5 - Liked:
a huge and varied off-piste area. Easy to park. - Disliked:
No pedestrian areas in this car-centred resort - Conclusion:
a resort entirely dedicated to skiing, not too long to wait at ski lifts, a great resort to do some great skiing

Isola 2000 |

Review written on the 08/04/2011. 5out of 5 - Liked:
-Very well equipped resort, the equipment doesn't break down every two minutes like it does in other nearby resorts. -Restaurant & cinema & other shops very easy to get to (in malls). -Cheap accomodation, ideal for families.
-You don't need a car in the resort - Disliked:
- the hamlet is more difficult to get to - Conclusion:
It's wonderful for skiing as a family

Review written on the 03/04/2011. 2out of 5 - Liked:
Large ski area (when there's snow), - Disliked:
The resort is pedestrian which is great but the luggage is not catered for, except by hiring carriages at an exhorbitant price (10€ for 1min) or sleds that are virtually absent from the resort, which meant 2h30 to unload the car!!! - Conclusion:
I wouldn't recommend this resort!

Alpe d'Huez |
 |
Review written on the 28/03/2011. 1out of 5 - Liked:
large ski area - Disliked:
passes over-priced especially when there's not much snow, long queues at the ski lifts - Conclusion:
very poor coordination between the 9 o'clock departures and the 10 o'clock departures, traffic jams guaranteed, well done the organiser!

Megève |
 |
Review written on the 28/03/2011. 5out of 5 - Liked:
Varied and very well groomed ski area.
Easily accessible for all from beginner to freeride enthusiasts.
The village has kept its traditional charm and you can find everything you need there. Lots of carparks and you can travel everywhere free by shuttle.
Lots of "after ski" activities for all the family. - Disliked:
No real negative points... maybe the somewhat select side of Mont d'Arbois. - Conclusion:
Low altitude resort that can suffer from lack of snow; but the grooming service does a remarkable job in keeping the area uniform.

 |
Review written on the 24/03/2011. 4out of 5 - Liked:
Breautiful resort, snpw, ski runs, great atmosphere - Disliked:
The noisy nights and lack of respect for the environment in December by certain foreigners like the English or Spanish in Val Claret - Conclusion:
Without the noisy nights in Val Claret, there are only good things to say about this resort!

Saint Lary Soulan |

Review written on the 24/03/2011. 2out of 5 - Liked:
Very pretty village with activities even outside the school holidays.
Lovely ski area, friendly shop keepers, but beware, baker's raspberry tarts inedible!
- Disliked:
Cable car access ... not enough people outside school holidays: very long wait for it to fill up before departure! Problem with knee from the very first day: Cost of pass (150 euros) not refunded so money lost - Conclusion:
The resort is really pretentious with respect to the ski pass (overpriced pedestrian cable car rates) and equiment not up to standard

Review written on the 24/03/2011. 2out of 5 - Liked:
The ski domain when there is enough snow.
Nice retailers. - Disliked:
A resort supposed to be without cars but they are replaced by noisy tracked vehicles... day and night - Conclusion:
Low altitude resort so watch out for snow, tendency to "abuse" the tourist (kids village, horse drawn carriage ride...)

Review written on the 24/03/2011. 3out of 5 - Liked:
Charming resort, no cars, great ski domain! - Disliked:
Grooming in the resort at the end of the season really needs improving(the snow melts, goes muddy and then runs downhill in the afternoon. This lovely river freezes at night and has become a wonderful skating rink by the morning: falls guranteed).
70 cm announced at the bottom of the pistes with the following result: absence of snow in some places: e.g.: "abricotine" not sign posted! - Conclusion:
It's not tyhe first time I've been to this resort so I know it very well, and when there's snow, everything is pretty good but as soon as the snow becomes rarer, it's not just the pistes that begin to disintegrate.
